Hello - and WELCOME to my corner of the internet!

My name is Pixie, and I am a writer.

 It's who I am and who I have been since I was old enough to put pen to paper.

My grandmother used to buy me Big Chief tablets and I'd spend hours upon hours writing short stories and books, and I've never stopped.

I have written 3 novels, one which became a movie (more about that some other time).

After travelling and living all over the world, we currently live 'back home' in my favorite city in my favorite state----

DALLAS, TEXAS!

 And while I live in the heart of the city, smack dab in the middle of the hustle-bustle, I have managed to carve out a very quiet, gentle and magical life.

My hope is to inspire YOU to find/make your own magic in your everyday life.

Simple Vegetable Beef Soup...with a 'kick'

Last Saturday night was cold and rainy - an 'under-the-blanket-with-a cup-of-hot soup-and- Christmas-movie-marathon' kind of night. We used to have friends over a lot for beefy vegetable soup and cornbread, and i am often asked for my recipe. There's really not a 'recipe' - but i'll just tell you the few odd things i add that probably a lot of people might not consider. First of all, I never use 'store-bought' beef. We may be city people, but each year we process our own steer.  Trust me - there is a huge difference in the taste.   i prefer to use fresh vegetables, but i didn't feel like fighting through the holiday crowd at the store, so i gathered every canned vegetable i had in the pantry. Corn, peas, green beans, carrots, tomato sauce - and rotel tomatoes! i use rotel rather than stewed (or even fresh) tomatoes. i may cheat with canned vegetables, but i never, ever, ever resort to canned potatoes. Potatoes are always fresh/raw, as well as onion....
